ManoMotion meets Game Lab
A game jam filled with surprises and new tech.
At the beginning of November, we had some visitors from Stockholm coming to Oulu Game LAB to introduce their new technology. ManoMotion has developed a gesture-recognition and hand tracking SDK which enables able anyone to use their hands as controllers.
”ManoMotion provides a framework for real-time 3D gestural analysis. Minimal hardware, minimal computing power. All that’s required is a simple RGB camera found in everyday smartphone.”
During the Game Jam, Oulu Game Lab d students and other participants got the chance to play around with the ManoMotion technology and create new products.
Oulu Game LAB itself is a training and development program tailored to meet the needs of the gaming industry. Game Lab has been established in 2012 at the University of Applied sciences in Finland and supports the development of Game prototypes/products and start-ups.
In the first day, 8th of November participants got an introduction from the visitors about the technology and were organized in groups. Each group got 24 hours to idealize and make a new product which exploits the newly introduced technology.
After a long night of intense process of creation, groups finally presented their products for ManoMotion visitors and for the surrounding people. Overall 6 groups came out with different ideas.
Co-operation with MonoMotion will continue in February 2019.
